French Immersion Leadership Programs

for French immersion and Francophone students Grade 6-8

This program is cancelled in 2021. Stay tuned for updates about 2022!

An opportunity for campers to grow their leadership skills in a fun and engaging environment. Campers attending this program will participate in exciting leadership and team-building activities led by our experienced and seasoned staff while also partaking in typical outdoor camp activities such as high ropes, large camp games, archery, and more.

Campers can expect to gain independence, make new friends and pursue their bilingual journey. Our long-standing program leaves campers feeling ready to take on leadership positions at our camps as part of our Counsellor in Training program!

A four-day, three-night program in early summer specifically designed to prepare candidates for the CIT program through the development of their leadership skills. It is mandatory for all CIT candidates to attend this program.

Campers will spend the trip participating in team-building activities where each team member must contribute to the success of another team member in his or her challenge; participate in several leadership games; accomplish team challenges like fire-building; and go for hikes in the beautiful multi-acre facility.

Each evening, campers gather around a campfire for stories and songs. Campers will also receive an initiation to the CIT program, review the expectations, the activities and get an overview of a week as a CIT at Camp Tournesol.

Counsellor in Training: Day Camp (13 and 14 year olds)

Interested in putting your leadership skills to the test? Join us as a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) at one of our many day camp locations! On-site CITs will shadow a senior counselor, discovering the day to day responsibilities of a CIT. Throughout the week, CITs will partner with their senior counselor to help run a variety of games and activities, including sports, team-building games, board games, arts and crafts, and our creativity module. Once they’ve practiced their leadership skills, they will take the lead themselves! Read all about the CIT day camp program here.

Counsellor in Training: Overnight Camp (15 and 16 year olds)

Time to take your leadership skills to the next level by joining the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program at our overnight camp! CITs will be matched with a senior counselor and will spend the week shadowing them, seeing leadership in action. CITs will sleep in campers’ cabins and provide support to campers, assist in leading cabin activities and large field games, and then will take the lead themselves during the week to put those leadership skills into action! During specialty activities (e.g. large camp games, meals) CITs will help ensure the safety of the campers, all while having fun in French themselves!
